What is Family Life Ministry's TGIF Standard Service?
Our TGIF (Totally Good Internet Filtered) service is a dial-up based Internet service designed to offer our subscribers the safest family-friendly Internet experience available. We incorporate a highly advanced web filtering system that blocks websites containing inappropriate content, including pornography, violence, hate speech, criminal behavior, and much, much more. Coupled with our family-friendly Internet access is filtered email service, which protects your inbox from junk mail, dangerous attachments, email-based viruses and more. Our email service can also be accessed via the web by any computer in the world with an Internet connection. The combination of our filtered web and email access makes our TGIF service a valuable tool for families looking to experience the benefits of the Internet without the dangers that may lurk.
Can the filtering be bypassed or thwarted?
Our TGIF service is NOT a PC-based filtering application that can be disabled or uninstalled. A simple setting is adjusted in your favorite web browser that directs all of your Internet web traffic to our filtering system. If this setting is removed from your browser, NO websites will be accessible until it is replaced.
What are the System Requirements for the TGIF service?
TGIF Standard service is compatible with windows-based PCs running Windows 98 or greater with a working modem (connected to a standard analog telephone line), 32MB RAM and a Pentium-grade 133Mhz or greater processor. Macintosh systems running OS 7.6 or greater with a working modem and Remote Access or PPP are also supported.
Can I get help if I experience any technical trouble?
TGIF service offers Technical Support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at absolutely no charge. Our friendly technicians can walk you through troubleshooting and resolving just about any trouble that you may encounter.
Will the TGIF filtering system block EVERY objectionable website?
We believe that our filtering system is the best available. With that being said, no filtering system can purport to be 100% effective in blocking every objectionable site on the Internet. With billions upon billions of webpages out there, it is impossible to block each and every page that contains an inappropriate image or text. We do not believe that this system is a replacement for adult supervision, but it is highly effective in protecting families from offensive web content.
What if a "good" webpage is blocked or a "bad" webpage is not?
If you encounter a website that is being too stringently filtered, or a website that is erroneously unfiltered, simply send an email to contentmaster@flmtgif.org and the website will be reviewed within 24 business hours.
